I have known Chris Wallace for over 40 years, having first met him at an Aikido club in Altrincham. Through continuing contact in this field, I became friends with him and we both continued to train together until he moved to Ireland – when the training became more sporadic!

Thus, over many years I have got to know him and his family, and frequently joined in the more social activities. Our passion for Aikido threw us together increasingly, and beyond into another martial art – Systema.

These two arts led us to train together in various places, on many courses, and in many countries.

As Chris is also a Dan grade in Karate, he is a very experienced martial artist, and an excellent teacher; this he accomplishes with a profound depth of knowledge, experience and skills. He also embellishes this with patience, a dry sense of humour and a mature way of dealing with people from all kinds of backgrounds.

He is always calm, unflappable and measured in his approach, which leads to people listening to him, deferring to him and willing to work with him. These are the abilities he brings to any situation, and certainly when it comes to martial arts. He also has the enviable qualities of a good leader, which he has put to good use over the years, and which I have been able to witness, and frequently partake of!

In conclusion, I would add that Chris is trustworthy, reliable and possessed of much wisdom. He applies himself diligently to whatever he is involved in, and especially in the field of martial arts.

I trained regularly under Chris Wallace for a number of years when he was club leader at Marple Aikido in Stockport, as well as receiving instruction from him on many general courses.
